Drilling nail holes in keel assembly
Robine pre-drills each nail hole through the keel assembly and also into the false keel inside the hull. This makes it easier to drive the nails all the way home without splitting anything. Also she drills a slightly larger recess in the top of each hole so that nail head can be countersunk using a small pin punch and then the recess above the nail head is filled with a pre-stained putty to give a more natural appearance.
