Using a plank bending iron

After soaking a planking strake for several hours, Robine holds it in place on the hull while ironing the strip into shape with the planking iron. When the plank is bent to the exact shape of the hull, she will apply contact adhesive to both surfaces, wait approximately 20 minutes for the glue to become touch dry, then press the planking strake firmly into position, making sure it butts up as closely as possible to its neighbour.
